TRANSCRIPTION OF THE WILL OF JOHN LINE OF WINKLEIGH

In the name of God: Amen:

I John Line of the parish of Winckley in the County of Devon  husbandman  being sicke of bodye but perfect of memory (thanks be to God) doe make this my last will and Testament 

Imprimis  I bequeath my soule into the hands of God whoe gave it  And my bodie to Christian buryall 

Item  I give and bequeath to my sonne Edward Line Twelve pence to be paid within one month after my decease

Item  I give and bequeath to my daughter Izott Line sixe pounds thirteen  shillings four pence to be paid when she shall accomplishe the age of sixteen years 

Item  I give and bequeath to my daughter Margarett Line sixe pounds thirteen shillings four pence to be paid when she shall accomplishe the age of sixteen years

And my will and meaning is that if Izott Line my daughter doe dye before she shall accomplishe the age of sixteen years that then the said summe of sixe pounds thirteen shillings and four pence by me to her given and bequeathed to come remaine and bee to my daughter Margarett Line And if my daughter Margarett Line happen to die before she accomplishe the age of sixteen years that then the said summe of sixe pounds thirteen shillings and four pence to her by me given and bequeathed to come remaine and be to my daughter Izott Line 

Item  I give and bequeath to my sister Johan Maye five shillings to be paid within one month after my decease  All the rest of my goodes not given and bequeathed I give and bequeath to my wife Izott Line whom I make my whole and sole executor of this my last will and testament  And further I doe ordaine and appoint my trusted and welbeloved friends Andrewe Squire of Wembworthy and Humphry Haywood of Winckleigh to see this my last will and testament performed  In witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seal this seventeenth Day of Aprill in the yeare of our Lord Christ one thousand six hundred fiftie four

This will was proved at London

the thirteenth day of November in the yeare of our Lord Godone thousand sixe hundred fiftie five before the Judges for probate of wills and grantinge administrations by the oath of Izott the Relict and sole executrix named in the last will and testament of the said deceased to whom administration was committed She being sworne by Commission trulie to administer
