NOTES:
This is a transcript of the 1841 Census Return for Enumeration District No.14 in the Registrar's District of St. Thomas and the Superintendent's District of St. Thomas, for part of the Parish of Brampford Speke in the Hundred of Wonford. The Parish includes the tiny hamlet of Cowley although the Parish of Upton Pyne lies between the two places. Part 2 of this transcription mainly relates to the area in and around the village of Brampford Speke. Part 1 relates mainly to the hamlet of Cowley and its immediate environs.
The Census of 1841 relates to the night of 7 June 1841.
The column headed H* shows separate households. Within a single dwelling there would have been several households.
N.B. Transcriptions should always be checked at source. Microfiches of the original census returns for Devon can be found in the West Country Studies Library in Exeter. |
