Richard Barton was killed in Northern Ireland in 1971 during the Troubles there.

He was a private in the Parchute Regiment and was shot while on patrol in Anderstown, Belfast on 14 July 1971 aged 24 - just two months before his wedding day

7903230 Trooper William Frederick Crocombe of the 1st Royal Tank Regiment. Son of  William and Bessie Crocombe; husband of Louisa Crocombe. Born in Parracombe in the June Quarter of 1916.  Died  10 June 1942 aged 26.
A.G.C.CROMPTON
7888777 Trooper Alfred Granville Crompton of the 8th Royal Tank Regiment.  Husband of Mary Crompton. Born in Parracombe in the September Quarter of 1918. Died 5 July 1941 aged 23.
J.E.MOORE
PO/X 103180 Marine James Edward Moore of RM Group MN BDO Brigade, the Royal Marines.  Son of James and Helena Moore; Born in Barnstaple in the June Quarter of 1905.  Died 5 July 1941  aged 28.
