Lieutenant Edwin Harry Coombe of the 1st Battalion, the Devonshire Regiment. Son of Joseph and Margery Coombe (née Harry). Born in Thorverton in the December Quarter of 1918. Died  20 November 1944 aged 26.
A.A. CROOKE
Midshipman Andrew Aird Crooke of the Royal Naval Reserve, HMS Saunders. Son of Adam and Molly Crooke of Thorverton. Born in Thorverton in 1922. Died in a road accident 12 August 1943 aged 19.
WARRANT OFFICER
J 95798 Boatswain William Louis Dart of the Royal Navy, HMS Duke of York. Son of William Briton and Jenny Mary Dart. Born in Thorverton  5 February 1904. Died of illness 31 October 1944. Buried in the churchyard of St. Thomas.
A. FRY
7889095 Trooper Alfred Fry of the 8th Battalion, the Royal Tank regiment. Son of Frederick and Mary Fry of Thorverton. Born in the March Quarter of 1921. Died 5 June 1942 at El Alamein aged 21.
